About the artist

Ron Frenz

Ron Frenz is an American comics artist closely associated with the classical Marvel house style of the 1980s and ’90s. He took over The Amazing Spider-Man in 1984, where he drew the first appearance of Spider-Man’s black costume and introduced the Puma and Silver Sable, before partnering with writer Tom DeFalco on a long, character-defining run on Thor that gave rise to Eric Masterson and the Thunderstrike spin-off (1993). Frenz and DeFalco later co-created Mayday Parker, the heroine of the long-running Spider-Girl.

About this series

Thor

Thor, Marvel's reinterpretation of the Norse thunder god, was launched in 1962 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby — whose long original run produced some of the most cosmologically ambitious pages in American comics. Subsequent significant runs include Walt Simonson's self-written and drawn tenure in the 1980s and, more recently, Jason Aaron's run with artists including Esad Ribić.
