Curt Swan was the defining artist of Superman for more than three decades. Active at DC from the late 1940s, he drew essentially every Superman family title through the Silver and Bronze Ages, establishing the definitive look of the character for generations of readers. His 1986 two-part story Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?, written by Alan Moore, stands as a consensus landmark of superhero comics.
