Arantza Sestayo is a Basque-born painter and illustrator whose highly refined fantasy work fuses Pre-Raphaelite figuration, Art Nouveau ornament and Victorian narrative painting. Self-taught, she moved into professional illustration through portraiture and then into the genre that has defined her — a romantic, fairy-tale realism that has produced cover art for Penguin Random House and HarperCollins’s Game of Thrones 20th-anniversary edition. In 2011 the city of Castellón commissioned a façade illustration for the Ateneo Assembly Hall, accompanied by the monograph Duende.
