About the artist
Alfonso Azpiri
Alfonso Azpiri was a leading Spanish comic artist and illustrator, associated with the adult-fantasy magazines of the 1980s including Heavy Metal and El Víbora. His flagship creation, Lorna, became one of the most internationally recognised Spanish science-fiction-erotic series of the era. Azpiri was also a prolific video-game cover illustrator during the Spanish 8-bit golden age, producing iconic artwork for Dinamic Software and Topo Soft. His airbrushed, sensual style defined a generation of Spanish commercial fantasy art.
About this series
Lorna
Lorna (from 1983) is the science-fiction-erotic series by Alfonso Azpiri — one of the most widely circulated Spanish comics in the international adult-fantasy market of the 1980s and 1990s. Its airbrushed colour work and sensual, retro-futurist design became inseparable from the aesthetics of Spanish adult comics in the period, and from Azpiri's parallel career as a video-game cover illustrator.
