Uderzo

Albert Uderzo was the French cartoonist who, with writer René Goscinny, co-created Astérix in 1959 — one of the best-selling and most widely translated comic series in history. His expressive, economical cartooning and gift for visual gag translated perfectly the rhythms of Goscinny's scripts. Uderzo continued the series alone as both writer and artist after Goscinny's death in 1977, helping cement Astérix as a cornerstone of European popular culture.
