British · 1905–1971
Reginald Bunn was a British comic-book artist, best remembered as the co-creator and sole artist of The Spider, the iconic super-criminal-turned-hero strip he developed with writer Ted Cowan for IPC's Lion. Born in King's Norton, Birmingham, he entered the industry in 1949 through Amalgamated Press's nationwide talent search and went on to draw for The Comet, Sun and Thriller Comics. His career was shaped by extraordinary perseverance: a wartime accident in Liverpool left him initially paralysed, yet he recovered to produce some of the most distinctive British comics art of the 1960s.
