Bernie Wrightson

Bernie Wrightson was a defining illustrator of horror comics and American gothic imagery. Co-creator of Swamp Thing with writer Len Wein in 1971, he became renowned for his meticulous linework and atmospheric grotesquery. His multi-year project illustrating Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1983) is regarded as a landmark of the medium. Wrightson's later career included conceptual design on Ghostbusters and ongoing collaborations with Stephen King.
