X-Men: Exiles/Excalibur 5
About the artist
CAFU
CAFU (Carlos Alberto Fernández Urbano) is a Spanish penciller, inker and cover artist whose career bridges the major American publishers. He started out at Image with Intimidators before settling at DC for the Captain Atom co-feature in Action Comics and the relaunch of T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents. At Valiant he became one of the signature artists of the post-2012 revival on Rai, and most recently worked exclusively at Marvel on titles such as Jane Foster: Valkyrie, the Books of Korvac arc in Iron Man and an extended run on Venom. His clean, classical line and confident anatomy have made him a regular cover-art fixture for the big two.
About this series
X-Men
The X-Men, created in 1963 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, became a cultural phenomenon through Chris Claremont's seventeen-year writing tenure alongside artists including John Byrne, Dave Cockrum, Paul Smith and Marc Silvestri. Subsequent generations — Grant Morrison with Frank Quitely and Ethan Van Sciver, Jonathan Hickman's Krakoan era — have made the franchise one of the longest-running experimental projects in mainstream American comics.
