X-Men
About the artist
John Romita Jr.
John Romita Jr. is a third-generation master of superhero storytelling. Son of the legendary John Romita Sr., he built his career at Marvel Comics with acclaimed runs on Iron Man, Uncanny X-Men, Daredevil (with Frank Miller on The Man Without Fear) and an extended collaboration with writer J. Michael Straczynski on The Amazing Spider-Man. His style is defined by blocky figures, decisive blacks and a confident sense of cinematic pacing.
About this series
X-Men
The X-Men, created in 1963 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, became a cultural phenomenon through Chris Claremont's seventeen-year writing tenure alongside artists including John Byrne, Dave Cockrum, Paul Smith and Marc Silvestri. Subsequent generations — Grant Morrison with Frank Quitely and Ethan Van Sciver, Jonathan Hickman's Krakoan era — have made the franchise one of the longest-running experimental projects in mainstream American comics.
