X-Men
About the artist
Gabriel Hernández Walta
Gabriel Hernández Walta is a Spanish comic artist internationally recognised for his work with Marvel Comics. His collaboration with writer Tom King on The Vision (2015–2016) won the Eisner Award for Best Limited Series and became a touchstone of contemporary superhero comics. His quiet, naturalistic line and restrained use of colour lend emotional weight to even the strangest subject matter — a sensibility further developed in his subsequent runs on Magneto and Sandman: Overture.
About this series
X-Men
The X-Men, created in 1963 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, became a cultural phenomenon through Chris Claremont's seventeen-year writing tenure alongside artists including John Byrne, Dave Cockrum, Paul Smith and Marc Silvestri. Subsequent generations — Grant Morrison with Frank Quitely and Ethan Van Sciver, Jonathan Hickman's Krakoan era — have made the franchise one of the longest-running experimental projects in mainstream American comics.
