Thor
About the artist
Jack Kirby
Jack Kirby is widely regarded as the foundational visual architect of American superhero comics. Co-creator of Captain America with Joe Simon, and the driving force alongside Stan Lee of the Marvel Age — including Fantastic Four, Thor, The X-Men, The Avengers, The Hulk and Black Panther — he later redefined DC Comics with his Fourth World saga. Known simply as “The King”, Kirby’s dynamic, kinetic style and boundless visual imagination underpin the vocabulary of modern mainstream comics.
About this series
Thor
Thor, Marvel's reinterpretation of the Norse thunder god, was launched in 1962 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby — whose long original run produced some of the most cosmologically ambitious pages in American comics. Subsequent significant runs include Walt Simonson's self-written and drawn tenure in the 1980s and, more recently, Jason Aaron's run with artists including Esad Ribić.
