Superman Confidential
About the artist
Tim Sale
Tim Sale was an American comic artist best known for his long collaboration with writer Jeph Loeb on a series of colour-themed superhero graphic novels — Batman: The Long Halloween, Batman: Dark Victory, Daredevil: Yellow, Spider-Man: Blue and Hulk: Gray. Sale’s stylised, heavily shadowed compositions owed a particular debt to Alex Toth and Bernie Krigstein; his work on The Long Halloween was a major visual reference for Christopher Nolan’s Batman films.
About this series
Superman
Superman, created in 1938 by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, is the founding figure of the American superhero. The character's visual identity was consolidated across the decades by artists including Wayne Boring, Curt Swan, José Luis García-López and John Byrne, and has been extended in the modern era through Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely's All-Star Superman, Mark Waid's Superman: Birthright and the work of Gary Frank.
