About the artist

Milo Manara

Milo Manara is one of the most internationally celebrated Italian comic artists of the post-war era. Trained in architecture, he joined the Italian comics scene in the 1970s before achieving worldwide recognition with Le Déclic and his long collaborations with Hugo Pratt (Indian Summer) and Federico Fellini. Manara’s work is defined by his classical line, elegant figuration and a sensual approach to storytelling that marries Renaissance draughtsmanship with the rhythms of European bande dessinée.

About this series

The Sandman

The Sandman (Vertigo, 1989–1996) is the seventy-five-issue fantasy serial by writer Neil Gaiman — drawn by a rotating roster of artists including Sam Kieth, Jill Thompson, Marc Hempel and Kelley Jones — that followed the anthropomorphic Dream of the Endless through mythologies both ancient and contemporary. Its critical and commercial success was a foundational moment for the Vertigo imprint and for the literary graphic novel at large.
