Hellboy 2
About the artist
Mike Mignola
Mike Mignola is the creator of Hellboy, one of the most critically acclaimed independent comics franchises of the modern era. After an early career drawing Marvel and DC titles, he launched Hellboy at Dark Horse Comics in 1993, developing a distinctive visual style characterised by heavy blacks, geometric shadow play and an economy of line derived from artists including Jack Kirby and Alex Toth. His broader Mignolaverse now encompasses B.P.R.D., Lobster Johnson and multiple film adaptations.
About this series
Hellboy
Hellboy (Dark Horse Comics, from 1993) is the creator-owned universe of Mike Mignola — a cigar-smoking demon investigator whose occult cases draw on folklore, pulp horror and the private mythologies of its artist. Mignola's chiaroscuro compositions and economical storytelling have influenced a generation of artists, and the series' wider Mignolaverse now includes B.P.R.D., Lobster Johnson and Abe Sapien.
