About the artist

Milo Manara

Milo Manara is one of the most internationally celebrated Italian comic artists of the post-war era. Trained in architecture, he joined the Italian comics scene in the 1970s before achieving worldwide recognition with Le Déclic and his long collaborations with Hugo Pratt (Indian Summer) and Federico Fellini. Manara’s work is defined by his classical line, elegant figuration and a sensual approach to storytelling that marries Renaissance draughtsmanship with the rhythms of European bande dessinée.

About this series

Astérix

Astérix (from 1959), by writer René Goscinny and artist Albert Uderzo, is one of the best-selling and most widely translated comic series in history. The Gaulish village's improbable resistance to Roman occupation produced four decades of original albums under its creators, and has since continued with new creative teams — an unbroken line from the postwar flowering of Franco-Belgian comics to the present.
