Fernando Fernández was one of the most versatile Spanish comic artists of his generation. After a prolific career in commercial illustration, he turned decisively to the comic medium with Zora y los Hibernautas (1979), a science-fiction serial originally published in 1984 magazine. His acclaimed adaptation of Bram Stoker's Drácula (1984) demonstrated a refined painterly technique that influenced a generation of Spanish illustrators.
