José “Pepe” González was a Spanish illustrator best known for his long association with Warren Publishing’s Vampirella, which he drew throughout the 1970s. Working through the Selecciones Ilustradas agency that connected Spanish artists to the American magazine market, González developed a luminous, sensual drawing style — combining a fashion-illustration sensibility with gothic atmosphere — that defined the character for a generation and made him one of the most collected Spanish comic artists internationally.
