Joe Kubert was a foundational figure of American comics, a working artist across seven decades and the founder of the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art (1976) in Dover, New Jersey. Best known for his long runs on DC’s war title Sgt. Rock and on Tarzan, he also produced the important later-career graphic novels Fax from Sarajevo and Yossel. His sons Andy and Adam Kubert continued the family tradition.
