Edgar Pierre Jacobs was a Belgian comic artist regarded as one of the founding figures of the Franco-Belgian school. Initially an assistant to Hergé on Tintin, he went on to create Blake et Mortimer (from 1946), an adventure series whose meticulous documentation, dense scripting and serene ligne claire style made it a defining work of the European adventure comic.
