Boris Vallejo is a Peruvian-American fantasy painter whose heavily muscled heroes and serpentine creatures defined the sword-and-sorcery paperback cover through the 1970s and 1980s. Working primarily with his wife and fellow painter Julie Bell, Vallejo produced definitive paintings for Conan and Tarzan reprint lines and a long succession of film-poster and licensed commissions.
