Alex Toth is widely regarded as one of the most important American comic artists of the twentieth century for his role in distilling the medium’s visual language to its essentials. Working for Dell, DC, Warren and Hanna-Barbera (where he designed Space Ghost and Super Friends), Toth developed a famously economical black-and-white style that has served as a model for artists from Bruce Timm to Darwyn Cooke.
