Fables
About the artist
Mark Buckingham
Mark Buckingham is a British comic artist best known for his long collaboration with writer Bill Willingham on the Vertigo series Fables, which he drew for over a decade. Earlier in his career he worked extensively on Neil Gaiman’s Miracleman and a popular run on Peter Parker: Spider-Man with Paul Jenkins. His elegant, literate style — marked by ornamental panel borders and a deep sensitivity to fairy-tale iconography — has earned multiple Eisner and Harvey Award nominations.
About this series
Fables
Fables (Vertigo, 2002–2015) is the Eisner-winning series by writer Bill Willingham and artist Mark Buckingham, in which the characters of folklore and fairytale — the Big Bad Wolf, Snow White, Prince Charming — live secretly in modern New York as exiles from their overrun Homelands. Buckingham's ornate panel borders and literate figuration sustained the series over more than 150 issues, defining one of the most durable fantasy comics of the Vertigo line.
