Fantastic Four
About the artist
Mark Buckingham
Mark Buckingham is a British comic artist best known for his long collaboration with writer Bill Willingham on the Vertigo series Fables, which he drew for over a decade. Earlier in his career he worked extensively on Neil Gaiman’s Miracleman and a popular run on Peter Parker: Spider-Man with Paul Jenkins. His elegant, literate style — marked by ornamental panel borders and a deep sensitivity to fairy-tale iconography — has earned multiple Eisner and Harvey Award nominations.
About this series
Fantastic Four
The Fantastic Four, created in 1961 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, is the inaugural title of the Marvel Age. Kirby's sixty-issue run with Lee is regarded as one of the foundational statements of the modern superhero comic; later significant runs by John Byrne (as writer-artist) and Carlos Pacheco have kept the title central to Marvel's creative identity.
