Lee Bermejo is an American comic artist whose painted, cinematic style has produced some of DC’s most celebrated recent character studies. His Brian Azzarello collaborations on Luthor, Joker and Before Watchmen: Rorschach explore the publisher’s darkest iconography through a heavily rendered, photo-inflected realism.

Watchmen
Watchmen (DC Comics, 1986–1987) is the twelve-issue series by writer Alan Moore and artist Dave Gibbons — widely considered one of the most important graphic novels ever produced. Its rigorous nine-panel grids, coded colour palette and dense symbolic structure set a new benchmark for the literary ambition of the superhero form, and its subsequent cultural influence has been commensurate.
